    My Tattoo Practice

After you arrive at Black Cat Tattoo, I will introduce myself and give you some indoor sandals to wear as I show you around the studio. Masking is required at Black Cat Tattoo so please make sure to checkout the Black Cat Covid Protocol before your session!

After getting the stencil on your skin, just where you want it, we will play with some different body positions in order to find a comfortable tattooing position. We will talk about every part of the tattoo process before we do it and we will talk about verbal consent! I like to start with talking through a series of check-ins that we can add on to, rearrange, or throw out in order to create our very own consent practice.

While you are being tattooed we can chat or have a silent session. We can take as many breaks as we want/need and you will not be charged for this time. You will also never be charged more for asking to finish a tattoo on another day. I strive to foster a practice where we can meet our bodies where they are at, in order to better care for ourselves throughout the tattoo process!

Please reach out if you would like to hear more about my practice! I am very happy to chat with you about any questions you might have!

  • Flash Tattoos

Flash Designs are pre-drawn designs that clients are able to look through and choose between.

These designs are often repeatable and allow artists to draw what they are excited about creating without prompts that custom projects provide.

I give each of my my flash pieces a minimum size requirement and ‘Flash Code’. You will need this code when submitting a flash booking form so that I know what piece you are interested in ♥

Generally, I am unwilling to make large alterations to my flash designs. However, I am happy to make some small alterations, remove text, etc!

Please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email if you have any questions about my practice! 😊

    Thank you!

  • Custom Projects

My custom process has three major steps.

The first step is to fill out my custom booking form when my custom books open. If I approve your custom idea, then the second step is where I draw your design. The last step is getting the piece tattooed on your body!

    Cost of illustration:

    1-3” - $50

    3.5-6” - $75

    6.5-10” - $150

This amount is not subtracted from your total as this is the design cost.

    Cost of Tattoo:

The Black Cat Tattoo shop rate is $180/hr+taxes and my min session cost is $270+tax (aka 1.5 hrs).

Please note that I do not copy other artists artworks, as I want to help foster a world where more artists are able to support themselves with their art! Thank you for your understanding!

Policies

Cancellation Policy

I require one weeks notice in order to reschedule your appointment. If you cancel and can not reschedule within the next two months, your deposit will be forfeited and you will need to pay another deposit to reschedule.

Tattoo Prep

I ask that that the week leading up to your tattoo you drink water! Your skin is an organ + hydrated skin is much easier to tattoo than desert skin. I also ask that you exfoliate + lotion your skin and bath before you show up to our session. This will slough off any dead skin that can make a tattoo session longer and more difficult for your artist ♥

Thank you!

Illness

If you are not feeling well in the week leading up to your appointment, please contact me ASAP so we can reschedule your appointment. My partner has been disabled by long-Covid/ME/CFS. Please wait 10 days after your latest Covid symptoms disappear and you test negative before coming into the shop. Please understand that now even catching a small cold can have large effects on my partner’s health. If you show up with sniffles or a cough to your appointment I will ask you to leave, I will keep your deposit, and I will not reschedule with you. If you have allergies that might cause these symptoms please email with plenty of notice!

Masking

Please show up to your appointment wearing a medical grade mask that covers your nose and mouth (in other words, a mask not made of fabric that you can buy at any pharmacy). Please also make sure to read the Black Cat Covid policies (at the bottom of the page linked). Thank you!

Breaking up a Tattoo Session

We do not have to finish your tattoo in one session. Sometimes we don’t know before our appointment that we will need to break up our tattoo into two or more appointments. Understanding that getting tattooed can range from being a pretty chill experience to being more difficult can help you plan for how you might like to “tap out”. I am happy to break up our session and this will not cost you more money.

Discussing fears and/or accessibility can help us navigate our tattoo session and help us feel more prepared. If you are nervous about navigating tattoo pain, or becoming overstimulated, etc. please shoot me an email! I am happy to work with you to create a tattoo session “Care Plan”.

Touch Up Policy

Everyone who gets a tattoo from me also gets a free touch up within the one year of your appointment! Just shoot me an email with a picture of your tattoo and we will get you scheduled into my calendar! It is common for designs that have larger sections of black fill to need a touch up- please consider this when booking ♥
